The Team
Our bright minds for your strategies
Consultant
Daniel Günther
Strategy
Daniel is a true team player, not only on the basketball court. Just as he plays the right pass at the decisive moment on the court, he also supports our customers in making smart decisions in the complex world of sustainability. With calmness and clarity, and the right attitude, he advances our customers with his expertise in the area of non-financial KPIs.
Consultant
Laura Kussl
Strategy
Laura is our structured organization expert in the team. She contributes her experience in classic and agile project management to the implementation of ESG strategy projects and CSRD materiality analyses. As an enthusiastic runner and rower, she brings not only endurance but also team spirit to our projects.
Consultant
Kyra Kunkel
Good direct-trade coffee and travel are two of the things that drive Kyra. The diversity of ecosystems and her encounters with different cultures have motivated her to drive environmentally conscious change. That’s why today she is passionate about developing environmental strategies for our clients. With her experience as a barista, she knows that it’s the small details that make the difference, always with the big goal in mind to deliver the best possible result – whether it’s a flat white or a presentation.
Manager
Juliane Zenke
Strategy
In climate and strategy projects, Juliane tackles new topics with curiosity and enthusiasm, always keeping an eye on both customer benefits and the big picture. Her humor and optimism provide positive energy in the project team, which Juliane in turn refuels on weekends in her wild, colorful garden. With a great passion for film and culture, she accompanies our clients on a hero’s journey that couldn’t be more exciting.
Consultant
Fabian Wagner
Human Rights
As a biologist and ethnologist with one foot in Europe and the other in South America, Fabian loves to jump back and forth between systems and world views. He mediates between the carnival in Mainz and the carnival in Rio just as passionately as between the perspective of disadvantaged groups and the huge Excel spreadsheets that are supposed to map them. Thinking environmental issues together with social justice is what drives him.
Marketing Manager
Christopher Kapl
Christopher knows how to combine strategy and creativity – just like he perfectly balances navigation and fun on his van tours. He gathers new inspiration on his road trips through Europe, because: Marketing is like a journey – each stage must be well planned in order to successfully reach the destination…. And yet something unexpected always comes up.
Associate
Lukas Schulze-Rohr
Lukas combines balanced changes of perspective from his yoga practice and persistent determination for a marathon, contributing to long-term and holistic solutions in projects. When he takes a break from the political scene, he is drawn to hiking in the countryside or swinging on the drums. Whether at work or in his private life, he always has an open ear and a big smile on his lips.
Consultant
Elsa Weiszflog
Elsa can solve complex problems in a playful way – whether in climate issues and data sets or on the football pitch. With flair, she balances logical thinking and infectious humour, always enabling successful and refreshing collaboration within the Systain team as well as with clients.
Consultant
Dr. Nicolas Künzel
As a volleyball player and kitesurfer, Nicolas doesn’t let the occasional gust upset him. As a bioinformatician and physicist with a doctorate, he is very familiar with complex issues and large data sets and always has all the facts ready on his favorite subject: climate and environmental protection.
Manager
Anna Block
Sustainability Strategy
When Anna is not on the volleyball court herself and coordinating her team, she plays the ESG court for our customers and separates the essential from the non-essential. Anna brings calm, sovereignty and order to every project, but can also blow her trumpet without running out of breath.
Manager
Sora Domschke
Human Rights
Sora loves bringing structure to projects, organizing and planning. She juggles tasks and deadlines effortlessly and always maintains an overview. Due to her travels – whether privately or professionally on audit trips to production sites – as well as growing up in an intercultural home, Sora is used to taking different perspectives and balancing different requirements. She also uses this ability in our human rights due diligence projects. The cheerful Rhineland character not only ensures a good mood in the team, but also brings a good dose of optimism to even the most difficult situations.
Associate
Yi Ding
When Yi is not working on climate strategies, she dreams herself away at the theatre, opera or yoga. No cultural evening event takes place without her: She brings a breath of fresh air into the team and convinces with her wealth of ideas and vision. With her good humour, every climate strategy and roadmap can be implemented creatively and effectively.
Managing Director
Hubertus Drinkuth
Sustainability Strategy
Hubertus’ laptop says “my #data is better than yours” and he incorporates this demand for quality and factual basis into all areas of Systain. He runs the whole show and works on all levels with his digital and analogue sleeves rolled up. In creative and disruptive moments, he can bring ideas and projects to other levels at lightning speed.
Consultant
Janaina Drummond Nauck
Human Rights
Janaina not only keeps an overview of the entire field when playing hockey, but also in projects when developing comprehensive climate and human rights strategies. She also always has a sympathetic ear and is very knowledgeable – be it about the best ice cream parlour in town or the most beautiful places for hiking.
Consultant
Jan Schröder
As a nature enthusiast and passionate music fan, Jan uses his creativity not only to develop sustainability strategies for our clients, but also to play the guitar. He masters customer data sets with a fresh eye and enthusiasm and always hits the right note in workshops and presentations.
Associate
Max Aron
Human Rights
Max’s degree in Philosophy & Economics is evident – he always has an open ear and questions existing contexts, while at the same time being good at digging into data and models. During lunch breaks, his desire to discover new things is evident when he repeatedly visits new restaurants and provides the rest of the team with good tips.
Consultant
Jenny Bellan
Climate & Environment
A tasty piece of cake can always tempt Jenny away from one of the numerous Excel or Tableau files she uses in her daily work to provide clients with fact-based advice on environmental and human rights issues. With her expertise in the food sector and her perseverance, she may set up the first Bavarian banana plantation in her next life.
Manager
Norbert Jungmichel
Climate & Environment
Ethics and responsibility are in Norbert’s blood – he originally wanted to become a pastor. After his studies in theology, he moved into the world of business and sustainability. He now develops climate protection strategies at Systain, helps with their implementation and last but not least, ensures a good working atmosphere in the team.
Consultant
Lukas Berger
No mountain is too high, no climbing wall too steep – with Lukas you can take apart mountains of data, build tools and see the climate world more clearly. He always has the distant goal in mind, pulls us along with perseverance and never forgets the humorous togetherness next to the world of numbers and climbing hooks.
Consultant
Dr. Veit Lüschow
Climate & Environment
No data set is too large or too complex for Veit when it comes to calculating environmental impacts and developing climate strategies. As a PhD graduate in Climate Science, he also likes to set up a new model “on the fly”. When he wants to get an impression of the current state of nature himself, Veit simply grabs a tent and goes camping.
Consultant
Leonard Mosel
Human Rights
Leonard combines his sharp analytical mind with a good dose of empathy and keeps a cool head in every situation. In this way, he easily manages to complete his studies alongside his project work, to pursue a wide range of interests and to always be available for a social evening with colleagues.
Senior Advisor
Serpil Gurci
Human Rights
At home in Turkey and at home in the world: Serpil has been with Systain since the very beginning and has actively helped to shape it across national borders. Her enthusiasm for travelling is also reflected in her diverse international and wide-ranging assignments as an experienced trainer, consultant and project manager in Turkey, Europe and Asia. The locations are just as varied and multifaceted as the project topics.
Consultant
Isabell Pape
Climate & Environment
As a textile engineer, a hands-on approach is part of Isabell’s DNA. From detox to climate protection and from the textile sector to the food industry: Isabell knows what matters when it comes to implementing sustainable supply chains. She enriches projects with her energetic, rational and pragmatic nature.
Senior Advisor
Torben Kehne
Human Rights
With over 18 years of experience in implementing human rights due diligence in companies, Torben is Systain’s coffee-loving grandfather. Barista or consultant? Torben can do both – he gets colleagues in top form with insanely delicious cappuccino and wins over every client, no matter how demanding, with team spirit and unparalleled experience.
Team Assistant
Sylvia Thomann
Sylvia is not only our administrative heart, but also a focal point at Systain. For many years she has been supporting and engaging with the Systain team, organising everything that needs or makes our work more enjoyable. From invoicing and controlling to our interface with human resources, while also setting personal touches on the side with seasonal decorations and birthday cards.
Associate
Stella Veneziano-Coen
Marketing & Consulting
Stella juggles the many different marketing balls with great art and transforms complicated topics into understandable statements – whether in webinars, in blog articles or on LinkedIn. As a mobile worker par excellence, you are never sure where she is at any given moment. So it’s not just in marketing that she shows where the journey is going for Systain.
Director
Christina Schampel
Human Rights
Planning and structuring are in Christina’s blood. At the same time, as a former national football player and current recreational baker, she loves almost all ball sports. Accordingly, she also often confidently juggles many balls in the air at the same time in client projects with solid project management, especially to turn human rights due diligence into reality in companies.
Associate
Nadine vom Hofe
Nadine’s sunny disposition always brings light into the darkness, whether in the strategy or climate field. Always active in sports, she gathers energy in her free time by playing volleyball or kickboxing – this motivation is also noticeable in projects, when she skilfully keeps the big picture in view for clients with a lot of structure and a sense for important details.
Director
Kordula Wick
Climate & Environment
With her positive nature, Kordula convinces everyone to take on the biggest challenges and not to let obstacles throw her off track. She enjoys innovation and loves data analysis and facts on all kinds of topics – from the environmental impact of tomatoes to the statistics of beach volleyball matches.

Our social engagement
Because giving back is a win-win for everyone.
We run Systain as an ethical business, which means that we invest our profits in social and ecological projects every year. In 2020 for example, we donated €50,000 to the rewetting project of the moors toMOORow of the Umweltstiftung Michael Otto and Michael Succow Stiftung (rewetted moors store large amounts of CO2 emissions). Another sponsoring partner is the Aid by Trade Foundation: Systain supported a project to fight child labour in the African cotton economy with €100,000.
We also keep our ecological footprint as small as possible – by limiting flights, using green electricity from Elektrizitätswerke Schönau and preferentially booking organic and inclusive hotels. We are also a member of the B.A.U.M. e.V. network, one of the largest networks for sustainable business in Germany.
Social Day at Systain: Every year, all employees actively support ecological or social projects in order to further their education outside of their consulting projects. In 2018, for example, they learned the exact processes of a modern organic farm at the Demeter flagship farm Hof Medewege, and in 2012 they supported the NGO NABU in renaturalising the inlets of the Alster: 15 tonnes of gravel were brought in to promote biodiversity and water protection.
